Founders &  Head L2 Coaches

We met as members of our local CrossFit affiliate near our home in Fredericksburg after Alyssa’s retirement from competitive equestrian riding.  As I continued my journey as a coach and Alyssa started her journey as an athlete, our interests and competitiveness brought us together.  That partnership has continued to grow into a family, and lead us deeper into the CrossFit methodology and the world of fitness.  After completing my L-1 in September of 2019, Alyssa received her CrossFit Level 1 certificate in January of 2023.  With full steam ahead, we both completed the CrossFit Level 2 course and received our certificates in August 2023.  In the midst of it all, the opportunity to become affiliate owners came to us. Literally as we were leaving for vacation!  Seeing the chance to fulfill a dream for both of us, our vacation became a working vacation and Phoenix 830 was born.  Now it’s our turn to build the community of our own.  We love the camaraderie of “the box”! It’s the place for people to be their best self and see others do the same.  Phoenix 830 is where families, friendships, and individuals grow.

Cody Lancaster

L1 Coach

Coach Cody is a proud husband and soon father to be. He will kick your butt in pickle ball and in class. He has had his L1 for over a year and has 10+ years of experience coaching sports. He currently is a football coach at He’ll keep you laughing and learning. Cody primarily coaches our early bird 5 am class.

Shannon McDowell

Nutrition Coach

I’m Shannon and I am a certified Renaissance Periodization Nutrition Coach and have my CrossFit Nutrition certificate. I also have my CrossFit L2 certificate and Burgener Strength Weightlifting L1 certificate. I have earned online certificates from CrossFit running, Scaling and Spot the Flaw courses. My future plans include obtaining my CrossFit Kids and CrossFit Gymnastics certificates.

I started CrossFit in 2013, at the age of 40, and started coaching in 2020. I’m a grandma of two and when I’m not with them or at the gym, I enjoy spending time with a good book and my dogs.

In 2019 I really felt I needed a change in my eating habits. I was putting in the work in the gym, but not seeing the results I wanted. I researched nutrition plans and settled upon RP Strength. Using their app to keep track of my macros helped me dial in my nutrition and achieve the results I was hoping for.

In 2022 I decided that I wanted to share the RP magic with others and successfully obtained my RP Nutrition Certificate.
